Ernie Kent out at Oregon???????
There are severely unsubstantiated reports coming out of Eugene declaring the possible end of the Ernie Kent era of Oregon basketball. Word is that Ernie, who preaches strong Christian family values to his recruits, has been a less than faithful husband. These infidelities have been taking place for some time, but finally became problematic due to a recent relationship with the daughter of a prominent Oregon booster. This Oregon booster owns the television station that broadcasts Duck athletics locally in Eugene. This booster is understandably not happy with the relationship of the coach, and is going to end his station's relationship with UO - impacting the university financially. It is speculated that Ernie Kent will be forced to resign within the coming days. Gonzaga coach Mark Few, an Oregon alum, is one name being talked about as a possible replacement. Oregon fans contend that this story has been concocted by rival Pac-10 coaches to hurt Kent's recruiting efforts, and is completely untrue. Yet, yesterday Oregon fan website www.educk.com was deleting any and all references to the budding controversy. Something to hide? Questions abound as to the future and possible transfers of young Oregon stars Malik Hairston and Bryce Taylor.
As a Husky I must say that this is all quite fun. Of course, there are about zero credible on the record sources to confirm anything about this story. However, often where there's smoke there's fire...
Stay tuned!!!
